I am...

This weekend I had the opportunity to have an Usborne Booth at a girls day out seminar. I was able to listen to some of the presenters and speakers, one of which was Brooke Walker from Studio 5 on KSL. She is actually a from Brigham City so it was fun to hear from her. She talked about how as women we have a lot on our plates and how if we say 5 things to ourselves each day we can be happier in our lives.

1. I am appreciated.

Even though we do not always feel appreciated or we may always have people tell us that they appreciate what we do for them. Look inside yourself and know that you did it and you can congratulate yourself. I am probably the worst at this because I like that feeling of people telling me thank you and that they appreciate all that I do. If they don't I feel really rejected but I know that if I can look into myself and tell myself that I did a great job that should be enough for me. I guess I have some things to work on. I just want my mom to know that I appreciate her for watching my kids all of the time for me. Jed I appreciate how you work hard so that I can stay home and all of your help around the house and with the kids.

2. I am grateful.

Many times we say that we are grateful that we can wake up in the morning to a new day and at the end of the day we are grateful that it is over but do we say that we are grateful during the middle of the day when it is the most chaotic. During the most busiest times of our day is the time that we actually need to take a minute and be grateful of the things we have whether you are grateful that you have children, a job, a car, a house, etc. Again here is another thing I need to work on. So I am taking a few minutes away from my day to say that I am grateful for 2 wonderful children who sometimes I lose my patience with but they are great.

3. I am beautiful.

We all are beautiful people. You always hear that it doesn't matter what is on the outside that counts it is what is on the inside. But how do you separate the 2. You don't. For some people you need to do one thing on the outside to make ourselves look beautiful but just that one thing can make us feel completed. For one person that might be to have your nails done each week, others it is just to get up and get showered. For me I can't leave the house until my hair and makeup are on. It has always been one of those things that if I can have my hair done and makeup on I feel beautiful and more complete both inside and out. So I say to you you are beautiful in your own special way and try to find that one thing that will make you say, "I am beautiful" each day.

4. I am passionate

What are you passionate about? What do you just love to do? I love to read. I could spend a whole day just curled up and be reading a book. Does that happen very often, No but I still love to do it. I love having my Usborne Book Company because it allows me to share my love of books with others, especially with children. I love to make rag quilts. I don't do very many but the few that I do get finished I feel a great satisfaction of finishing and accomplishing something. Some things that I was more passionate about: music (I really wish I had learned how to play a musical instrument), cleaning (I hate it), and exercising (I hate it even more than cleaning).

5. I am happy

Now if you can say each of the 4 I am's listed above you are bound to say I am happy. Lately, I have been feeling depressed and I am not sure why so when I heard Brooke give me these 5 sayings I said I want to be happy. So my challenge to myself is to say these 5 sayings each day and see if I can really be happy.

Doesn't our Heavenly Father know exactly what we need and when we need it to answer our prayers. Even though I didn't make any money off of doing the booth I learned a lot about myself and how I can be happy.
