New Blog

I have had many people ask about selling my rag quilts and after much thought I have decided to try it. I have started a new blog called cuttinuprags.blogspot.com. I have posted all of my rag quilts that I currently have done that are for sale. I will also be continuing to work on a post that have previous quilts that I have done and their stories. If you have a quilt that I have made you and would like your story to be on my blog please send me a picture and a little story.

Enjoy and please feel free to leave your comments.

More Summer Fun

I can't believe how fun this summer has been. The only problem was that we didn't get to go up to our friend's cabin as much. Oh wait, we haven't been up there at all this summer. Between Search & Rescue, my Usborne booths, and family functions we haven't had the time to get away. So here are a few more pictures of our summer fun.

Waiting for the Syracuse Heritage Day parade. This is an annual tradition that we have at Grandpa and Grandma Barber's House. WE LOVE PARADES!!

Brooklynn and Chase on Mars and the Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake. They are little aliens.

WALKING ON THE MOON

One of our favorite places to go is the Children's Treehouse Museum in Ogden. The children can run around and play. They have little areas set up like: train station, a fire truck and props to play with, world maps, Utah maps, a recreation of the Oval Office, dinosaurs, wild west, doll room, music room and so much more. Here are just a few snapshots I took from our last visit in July.
Chase loves hats. He calls them Hat, Hat. He has the best smile.
Kylee, Brooklynn and Chase dressed in the medieval times.

Kylee and Brooklynn making a night time skyline painting.
Our favorite part of the museum is going through all the different lands of the world and dressing up. Here Kylee and Brooklynn are in the Japan area and dressed in Kimonos and fishing from a boat.

Summer Fun

Whoa!! What a busy summer and my kids are only 4 and 1. This summer we have already been to the Hogle Zoo, Willow Park, Hill Air Force Base Museum, Ogden Train Station, gone fishing and camping a few times, taken 2 weeks of swimming lessons (both Chase and Brooklynn), Children's Treehouse Museum, numerous parades and fairs, and not to mention all of the family functions so far.

Brooklynn having a great time as a pilot.

We also got to have Chad's daughter, Samantha, here for a few weeks to spend time with us. We haven't seen her since she was about 1 1/2 years old. We were so glad to have her come with us to the train station and stay at our house for a few days. We really hopes that she makes a trip out here every year.

Field Trip Fridays

I hope that everyone is getting excited for the summer months. Now that most kids are out of school by now I thought it would be a good idea to continue working with Brooklynn and Chase. Therefore, I have set up topics and themes for my children during the summer months and most likely each Friday we will be going on Field Trips. I am inviting anyone that would like to come just show up and we will have some summer fun. Here is my somewhat schedule and if you would like my themes or any of the activities that I am doing with my kids just let me know and I can send you some ideas. I am trying to keep these really cheap so that eveyone can come. If you have any other suggestions or would like to activities during the week please contact me.

Most of these will be at 10 am unless I tell you otherwise. I still need to check to make sure that they open before 10.

June 5th - Hogle Zoo (meet at front gates at 10 am) - Bring a sack lunch, sunscreen, water and your cameras
(Just for your information I am working on senses with Brooklynn so I will be doing a little 5 senses book as well as a few letters that she has to find some animal that starts with those letters. If you would like me to make extra copies let me know)

June 12th- Willow Park Zoo at 10 am - Bring a sack lunch, sunscreen, water and your cameras

June 19th - Hill Air Force Base Museum - Lunch is optional they do have tables there to eat

June 26th - Ogden Train Station - Lunch is optional and we could also take a ride on the Frontrunner.

July is a pretty tough month for me so right now I don't have any field trips planned because with the holidays and 2 vacations my weeks are to fit anything else into right now.

Coming up in August

Ogden Eccles Dinosaur Museum
Clark Planterium - Gateway Fountains
Living Planet Aquarium
Layton's Duck Ponds
Children's Treehouse Museum

This is an open invitation for anyone and everyone so tell your friends and family and let's enjoy what Utah has to offer us. Please let me know if you are thinking about attending any of these so that I don't leave without you.

Vacation of a Life Time

HELP!!!!

I have just been challenged to earn the vacation of a life time with my Usborne Book Company. They are offering a 7 day cruise around Hawaii next year. I would love to go because one of my dreams is to go on a cruise and another is to go to Hawaii. If you don't believe me come and see my board (it is in my office). So earning this trip would get both of my dreams in one.

But I need eveyone that knows me to help. If you ever need a birthday, graduation, Christmas, or any other holiday gift please think of me. I have a huge selection of books here at my house and you can just come shop or I will even bring them to you. Or you could always shop my website at www.ubah.com/u2780 and they will delivered within a week. If you would like to host a show or even just a catalog show please contact me and I would love to come and do a party for you. Most of my hostesses receive about $100 in free and discounted books. Or if you or anyone you know would love a part-time, full-time, or even just to get out of the house and make a little extra money I could really use some recruts.

If you can't do much now don't worry. But even just one or two purchases over the next couple of months would help me out a ton. Again, thank you for your support and I hope that by this time next year I will have done 2 of my dreams of a life time.

I am...

This weekend I had the opportunity to have an Usborne Booth at a girls day out seminar. I was able to listen to some of the presenters and speakers, one of which was Brooke Walker from Studio 5 on KSL. She is actually a from Brigham City so it was fun to hear from her. She talked about how as women we have a lot on our plates and how if we say 5 things to ourselves each day we can be happier in our lives.

1. I am appreciated.

Even though we do not always feel appreciated or we may always have people tell us that they appreciate what we do for them. Look inside yourself and know that you did it and you can congratulate yourself. I am probably the worst at this because I like that feeling of people telling me thank you and that they appreciate all that I do. If they don't I feel really rejected but I know that if I can look into myself and tell myself that I did a great job that should be enough for me. I guess I have some things to work on. I just want my mom to know that I appreciate her for watching my kids all of the time for me. Jed I appreciate how you work hard so that I can stay home and all of your help around the house and with the kids.

2. I am grateful.

Many times we say that we are grateful that we can wake up in the morning to a new day and at the end of the day we are grateful that it is over but do we say that we are grateful during the middle of the day when it is the most chaotic. During the most busiest times of our day is the time that we actually need to take a minute and be grateful of the things we have whether you are grateful that you have children, a job, a car, a house, etc. Again here is another thing I need to work on. So I am taking a few minutes away from my day to say that I am grateful for 2 wonderful children who sometimes I lose my patience with but they are great.

3. I am beautiful.

We all are beautiful people. You always hear that it doesn't matter what is on the outside that counts it is what is on the inside. But how do you separate the 2. You don't. For some people you need to do one thing on the outside to make ourselves look beautiful but just that one thing can make us feel completed. For one person that might be to have your nails done each week, others it is just to get up and get showered. For me I can't leave the house until my hair and makeup are on. It has always been one of those things that if I can have my hair done and makeup on I feel beautiful and more complete both inside and out. So I say to you you are beautiful in your own special way and try to find that one thing that will make you say, "I am beautiful" each day.

4. I am passionate

What are you passionate about? What do you just love to do? I love to read. I could spend a whole day just curled up and be reading a book. Does that happen very often, No but I still love to do it. I love having my Usborne Book Company because it allows me to share my love of books with others, especially with children. I love to make rag quilts. I don't do very many but the few that I do get finished I feel a great satisfaction of finishing and accomplishing something. Some things that I was more passionate about: music (I really wish I had learned how to play a musical instrument), cleaning (I hate it), and exercising (I hate it even more than cleaning).

5. I am happy

Now if you can say each of the 4 I am's listed above you are bound to say I am happy. Lately, I have been feeling depressed and I am not sure why so when I heard Brooke give me these 5 sayings I said I want to be happy. So my challenge to myself is to say these 5 sayings each day and see if I can really be happy.

Doesn't our Heavenly Father know exactly what we need and when we need it to answer our prayers. Even though I didn't make any money off of doing the booth I learned a lot about myself and how I can be happy.

Cannonville - Day 4

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Snow!! We woke up to a skiff of snow. This was our last day in Cannonville before we headed home. We decided to keep it a very short hike because some didn't have any more hiking shoes after getting them muddy and wet the day before and some people (especially me) were very sore after six hours of hiking. So Vicki and Shannon took us to a place called Mossy Caves. It was only a 1/2 mile walk so I figured I could do it. Chase was actually asleep so we left him with Joanne (Jed's mom) in the truck and took off. We walked up a little hill and there was a cave in the mountain. There were ice sickles handing down and Vicki said that last year when they came the ice was even there in the early part of summer.
As you can see we all had suckers (Thanks to Jed) and we were part of his sucker club. Isn't Brooklynn so cute.
